The Great Outdoors

Outdoor Adventures in Buffalo

“What separates Buffalo from other outdoor recreation destinations is the variety of activities available right at our doorstep. Within about 20 miles from where we live, we do everything from kite surfing, windsurfing and paddleboarding, to kayaking, sailing, fishing, whitewater, hiking, and rock climbing. We even surf on the lake. That’s right, you don’t have to live on the ocean to surf. I think the coastline of Lake Erie and its connecting waterways are absolutely special. You can paddle beneath sea cliffs and watch families of bald eagles fishing. In one day, you can have a beautiful flat-water paddle in the morning and then the wind can pick up in the afternoon and you can kite surf and then the wind may die down and you get an incredible Lake Erie sunset over the water. There’s just so much to do and so much to explore. It’s one of the great undiscovered outdoor recreation destinations.”

Kevin Cullen

Kevin Cullen resides on the shores of Lake Erie with his wife Christian and two children, Ocean and Lake. They can be found out on the water kiteboarding, paddling, and surfing or out in the hills hiking, biking, and boarding. The pair also own and operate SUP Erie Adventures and Hideaway Bay Resort on Lake Erie.

In Buffalo, outdoor adventures are never far away. Take a short ride out of the urban center of the city to explore on land, by water, and on foot.
