New York. London. Paris. Tokyo. Buffalo. From architecture to art, Buffalo is an expertly designed destination.

Think we’re bluffing? Well, guess again. An authority on all things design, Architectural Digest, in a recently published piece, details why aesthetes will be enamored, and quite surprised, with what they’ll find in Buffalo.

“Although it may feel like Buffalo has been dormant for decades, this Rust Belt city is in the midst of a resurgence thanks to its beautifully restored architecture, burgeoning culinary scene, and new art compounds,” Chelsea Bengier writes for Architectural Digest.

Throughout the decades, given its legendary history, Buffalo was home to some of the most innovative and visionary minds of their time. Around the turn of the century, landscape designer Frederick Law Olmsted and architects Frank Lloyd Wright, Louis Sullivan and H.H. Richardson made their mark on Buffalo.

Today, preservationists like Rick Smith at Silo City and the team at the Richardson Olmsted Campus shape the city’s unique brand of adaptive reuse. Even local chefs are adding a refined spin to Buffalo’s blue-collar culinary roots.
